Nestlé Malaysia has reached another significant milestone with the official launch of NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate production at its Sri Muda factory in Shah Alam, Selangor. This latest addition reinforces Malaysia’s position as a strategic manufacturing and innovation hub within Nestlé’s global network, while meeting the rapidly growing demand for cold coffee across Asia.

The Sri Muda facility already serves as the main regional base for Ready-to-Drink UHT and recycled PET (rPET) beverages. With the newly commissioned coffee concentrate production line, the site now stands among the most advanced of its kind worldwide, the result of investments exceeding half a billion ringgit over the past decade. The new production capability is designed to serve both domestic and international markets, including Singapore, Oceania, and the Middle East and North Africa region, with plans for expansion into other ASEAN countries as well as Europe. This development further elevates the Sri Muda plant’s role as a key Halal manufacturing hub for the Nestlé Group globally.

Malaysia’s selection as the production base once again underscores the country’s strong infrastructure, skilled workforce, and proven expertise in food and beverage manufacturing. The Sri Muda factory already produces a wide range of liquid products under Nestlé’s flagship brands such as MILO, NESCAFÉ, and NESTLÉ OMEGA PLUS, benefiting from efficient sourcing, logistics capabilities, and access to talent that enable the facility to play a vital role as a regional export hub.

Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Malaysia, highlighted the strategic importance of the launch, saying, “The successful completion of this investment and today’s official launch mark another important milestone for Nestlé Malaysia. NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate is set to tap into new and innovative growth opportunities in the dynamic coffee space, especially among younger generations exploring coffee culture. With the Group renewing its trust in Nestlé Malaysia to bring to life important projects like this, we are seeding new platforms for future growth while offering exciting and convenient ways to enjoy NESCAFÉ. This project will also create additional employment opportunities and reinforce our role as a Regional Export Hub and key Halal manufacturing centre for the Nestlé Group globally.”

Adding to this, Raef Labaki, Business Executive Officer of Coffee for Nestlé Malaysia, emphasized how the new product reflects the company’s innovative approach to coffee. “NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate is an exciting innovation that reshapes the future of coffee experiences for consumers. It taps into the fast-growing cold coffee segment, particularly relevant to younger consumers seeking premium café-style moments at home. With the highest quality Arabica and Robusta coffee beans, this product allows coffee lovers in Malaysia and across the region to enjoy a great cup anytime, anywhere.”

The launch also aligns with Nestlé’s global sustainability commitments. NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate will be packaged in 100% rPET bottles with Carbon Black Free Pigment caps, continuing the Sri Muda factory’s pioneering efforts in environmentally friendly packaging. Since 2019, the facility has eliminated over one billion plastic straws, introduced sustainable paper-based wrappers, and became the first company in ASEAN to fully transition to 100% rPET bottles for all its beverage products.

This milestone is part of Nestlé’s long-term investment strategy in Malaysia. Over the past five years, the company has invested close to RM1.5 billion to expand and modernize its operations, including the development of an advanced integrated logistics hub in Port Klang, scheduled for completion in 2026, and major upgrades to key factories such as the MILO plant in Chembong and Batu Tiga facilities. These initiatives reflect Nestlé’s commitment to strengthening competitiveness, driving sustainable growth, and nurturing local talent, further anchoring Malaysia’s role as a trusted hub for global food and beverage innovation.
