Kuching has made history as the first city in Malaysia to be named host of the prestigious 23rd World Veterinary Poultry Association Congress (WVPAC 2025), set to take place from 6 to 10 October 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). Under the theme “Sustainable Healthy Poultry for a Healthier World”, the global congress is expected to attract more than 1,500 delegates from over 50 countries, including 19 internationally renowned speakers, alongside an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations, products, and services in poultry health and production. WVPAC 2025 comes at a critical time, as the poultry industry faces pressing challenges such as disease control, food safety, sustainability, and animal welfare.
According to The Hon. He highlighted that the event is projected to generate over RM9.8 million in economic impact for Sarawak, though its greater legacy lies in knowledge exchange, partnerships, and the development of sustainable food systems for future generations.

Datu Dr Adrian Susin Ambud, Director General of the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak, emphasized that WVPAC 2025 will strengthen local capacity in veterinary poultry medicine, noting that animal health plays a vital role in building robust food systems.
