Malaysia’s digital economy ambitions reached a new milestone today with the official launch of the Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit 2025, organised by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in strategic partnership with Synapze Sdn Bhd. Officiated by Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo, the three-day summit is taking place from 17 to 19 September 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, under the theme “Catalysing Malaysia’s Trillion-Dollar Digital Future”. Now in its third year, MDX has become a premier platform showcasing cutting-edge breakthroughs in emerging technologies, digital transformation, and innovation, while driving Malaysia’s ambition of achieving a 30% digital economy contribution to GDP by 2030.

The summit brings together more than 5,000 participants including entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, corporate leaders, and digital professionals, creating opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and strategic investments. Among the distinguished international speakers are Dr. Keyu Jin from the London School of Economics and technology investor and entrepreneur Nicklas Bergman, alongside top Malaysian innovators and policymakers. Their insights will highlight how Malaysia can harness ASEAN’s projected USD 1 trillion digital economy by 2030 to strengthen its position as a global digital hub.

Anchored on five Next-Gen focus areas, MDX Summit 2025 emphasizes the nation’s priorities in shaping the future of the digital economy: Next-Gen Data for seamless data ecosystems, Next-Gen Computing leveraging AI, quantum computing, and cryptography, Next-Gen Trust to ensure secure and ethical data sharing, Next-Gen Creativity blending human imagination with technologies such as virtual cities and avatars, and Next-Gen Talent to empower Malaysia’s future workforce with world-class digital skills.

Running in parallel to MDX is the inaugural SmartGOV Malaysia 2025, held in collaboration with the National Digital Department (JDN). SmartGOV highlights the government’s ongoing journey in digital transformation, showcasing how AI-powered public services, digital permits, and smart city planning can deliver greater efficiency, reduce bureaucracy, and improve services for the rakyat. Together, MDX Summit 2025 and SmartGOV reinforce Malaysia’s capabilities in harnessing its nationwide 5G network and leveraging the broader Malaysia Digital (MD) ecosystem of infrastructure, solutions, and talent to drive inclusivity, resilience, and sustainability.

“MDX Summit 2025 is more than just a showcase of technology, it is a platform for action,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, CEO of MDEC. “By connecting global innovators, local talent, investors, and policymakers, we are building the partnerships that will drive Malaysia’s digital economy forward. Together with SmartGOV Malaysia and the Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025, MDX reinforces Malaysia’s position as ASEAN’s trusted digital hub, ready to catalyst a trillion-dollar future.”
