Ronald McDonald House Charities Malaysia (RMHC Malaysia) recently hosted its 32nd Charity Golf Championship at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, transforming a day of sport into a lifeline for underprivileged children and their families. The event drew the participation of 118 golfers and 45 sponsors, generating RM604,000 in gross collections and achieving a nett total of RM430,000. These funds will directly support RMHC Malaysia’s nationwide mission to enhance the health, education, and welfare of children in need.

Proceeds from the championship will fuel RMHC Malaysia’s four flagship programmes: the Ronald McDonald House, which provides affordable accommodation for families with hospitalised children; the Ronald McDonald Sensory Room, designed to support children with autism, ADHD, and other developmental needs; the Gift of Smile initiative, which funds cleft lip and palate surgeries to restore confidence and quality of life; and the Back-to-School Pack Programme, which eases financial burdens by supplying underprivileged children with school uniforms, shoes, and other essentials.

In addition to these initiatives, RMHC Malaysia also disbursed Medical Grants worth RM300,000 to six welfare organisations, namely the IJN Foundation, Persatuan Kebajikan Pesakit Kanak-Kanak Hospital USM (PEKA), Tabung Kebajikan Pesakit HPKK UKM, Tabung Kebajikan Perubatan Malaysia Hospital Tunku Azizah, PPUMCare, and Tabung Kebajikan Perubatan Malaysia HWKKS.

Expressing his gratitude, Dato’ Haji Azmir Jaafar, President of RMHC Malaysia and Managing Director/Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia, emphasised that the Charity Golf Championship is more than just a sporting event, but a vital lifeline for families in need. “Every ringgit raised translates into real change for a child, and the generosity we’ve seen today gives hope to families who often feel forgotten,” he said, while urging the wider community to continue supporting RMHC’s mission of ensuring every child has the chance for a healthier and brighter future.

Since its establishment in 1990, RMHC Malaysia has channelled more than RM60 million into programmes that have impacted over 200,000 children nationwide. Now in its 34th year, the organisation remains steadfast in its commitment to breaking barriers, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for children across Malaysia.
