Canon Expands Cinema and Hybrid Ecosystem with Latest Camera and Lenses in Malaysia. Canon Marketing Malaysia (“Canon”) today announced three powerful new additions to its imaging portfolio, further expanding its cinema and hybrid ecosystem for creators in Malaysia. The launch introduces the Canon D227 Cinema EOS Camera, the Canon CTZ236 Cine-Servo Lens, and the Canon L340 Hybrid Lens—innovations designed to empower filmmakers, content creators, and production crews with cutting-edge tools for professional storytelling across film, broadcast, and hybrid productions.
“As the creative landscape continues to evolve, Canon is proud to support Malaysian storytellers with tools that combine performance, flexibility, and innovation,” said Masato Yoshiie, President and CEO of Canon Marketing Malaysia. “From hybrid lenses to professional cinema cameras, these additions empower creators to push boundaries and capture stories with uncompromising quality.”

The Canon D227 Cinema EOS Camera marks the smallest and most versatile Cinema EOS model to date. Despite its compact design, it is powered by a 7K full-frame CMOS sensor and the DIGIC DV 7 processor, delivering 7K 60P RAW video recording, 4K 120P output, and 32MP still photography. With its open gate recording capability, the D227 unlocks the entire sensor area for maximum post-production flexibility, enabling reframing in horizontal, vertical, or square formats from a single clip—ideal for both cinematic productions and social media storytelling. Its Simultaneous Crop Recording feature further enhances efficiency by capturing full-frame and cropped footage at the same time. Engineered for agility, the modular camera includes a detachable handle with dual XLR inputs and extensive rigging options, making it equally suitable for large productions and fast-paced shoots.
Canon also unveiled the CTZ236 Cine-Servo Lens, the widest Cine-Servo lens in the company’s lineup. With an ultra-wide 11mm focal length and a 100-degree angle of view, the lens delivers exceptional versatility for cinema, live broadcasting, and virtual production environments. Weighing just 3kg, it is lightweight enough for handheld use, gimbals, cranes, or robotics, while still delivering 8K HDR optical performance. The 11-blade iris ensures cinematic rendering, while the removable e-Xs V Digital Drive Unit offers precise servo control, responsive iris handling, and advanced metadata output. Available in both RF and PL mounts, the lens supports Cooke /i Technology™, ZEISS eXtended Data™, and Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF.

Rounding out the launch is the Canon L340 Hybrid Lens, the first medium telephoto lens in Canon’s f/1.4 VCM hybrid prime series. With an 85mm focal length, the L340 is designed for intimate narratives, close-ups, and detail-rich storytelling. Compact and lightweight at just 636g—30% lighter than its EF-mount predecessor—the lens combines professional-grade optics with a bright f/1.4 aperture. It also features a clickless iris ring, focus breathing suppression, and a robust weather-sealed design, while Canon’s Air Sphere Coating (ASC) minimizes flare and ghosting for superior image clarity.
“These new launches reflect Canon’s deep understanding of the diverse needs of today’s creators and production teams,” said Edward Chang, Head of Image Communication Business Division at Canon Marketing Malaysia. “Whether it’s cinematic filmmaking, dynamic live broadcasting, or intimate hybrid storytelling, we aim to give Malaysian creators the freedom to express their vision without limits.”
The Canon D227 Cinema EOS Camera, L340 Hybrid Lens, and CTZ236 Cine-Servo Lens will be available in Malaysia soon. Pricing and detailed availability will be announced at a later date.
