Yayasan MR D.I.Y. Turns Aid into Action Through the Penghargaan SARA Initiative. What if a simple act of giving — just RM100 — could make a meaningful difference in someone’s life? The management of MR D.I.Y. Group and its philanthropic arm, Yayasan MR D.I.Y., recently turned that thought into reality through a heartfelt initiative that combined generosity, leadership, and community spirit.
As part of the Penghargaan SARA: One-off RM100 Cash Assistance under the MyKasih initiative, the management team embarked on a shopping trip to purchase daily essentials for underprivileged communities. The initiative reflects MR D.I.Y.’s commitment to lead by example, with its leaders personally participating in efforts that uplift those in need.

The team visited MR D.I.Y. Taman Maluri, one of the 125 outlets nationwide authorised under the MyKasih programme, to purchase basic necessities such as rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, flour, biscuits, milk, canned food, and household items. Using their RM100 SARA allocations, the group collectively bought almost 600 items worth RM3,000, which were then donated to Home of Hope, a children’s cancer transit home located in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur.
“As a homegrown brand, we remain committed to uplifting the communities we serve, and we’re proud to be part of the MyKasih initiative as one of its authorised retail merchants,” said Adrian Ong, Chief Executive Officer of MR D.I.Y. Group. “Through our nationwide store network, beneficiaries of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) and Penghargaan SARA: One-off RM100 Cash Assistance can conveniently purchase daily essentials at Always Low Prices. Today’s initiative shows that even RM100 can make a meaningful difference. I’m proud to take part alongside my team, and we hope our contribution inspires other corporates to do the same — for a better Malaysia.”

Among those joining Ong were Zaleha Mohd Mydin, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan MR D.I.Y.; Henry Woon, Vice President of Human Resource Management; Alex Goh, Vice President of Marketing; Elaine Ho, Head of Marketing; and Nor Saiful Azly Mohamad Zin, Manager of Human Resource Management.
Zaleha expressed that the initiative was one of the most meaningful collaborations between the foundation and the MR D.I.Y. management team. “It shows how purposeful actions, when supported by structured programmes, can bring real relief and joy to those in need,” she said. “Beyond financial aid, this reflects our shared commitment to empathy, care, and community. We hope today’s effort brings happiness and comfort to the residents of Home of Hope.”
As an authorised MyKasih merchant, MR D.I.Y. plays a vital role in ensuring that beneficiaries of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) and Penghargaan SARA programmes can use their allocations conveniently and responsibly. Using their MyKad, recipients can shop across 14 approved product categories — including food staples, beverages, personal care products, cleaning supplies, school items, and selected medicines approved by the Ministry of Health (KKM) — at participating MR D.I.Y. outlets nationwide.

Through initiatives like this, Yayasan MR D.I.Y. continues to demonstrate that corporate responsibility goes beyond donations — it’s about taking meaningful action, showing empathy, and turning aid into tangible support for those who need it most.
