Since its official debut in March 2023, the renowned pop-up museum The World of Tim Burton has captured the attention of thousands of art lovers and admirers of the legendary director and artist from all around Southeast Asia. The pop-up museum allowed visitors to connect with the distinctive characters and worlds found in Burton’s art and films like Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Beetlejuice, Frankenweenie, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and Bambi. It was equipped with over 500 original art pieces including drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, moving-image works, and sculptural installations across 10 thematic sections.
Recognizing the profound potential of art to inspire, uplift, and empower young minds, Toybox Projects Sdn. Bhd. (Toybox Projects) – organizer and presenter of The World of Tim Burton seized the chance to make a difference in the lives of those who may not have easy access to art education and cultural experiences. By partnering with charitable organizations and reaching out to orphanages, the initiative opened doors to the enchanting universe of Tim Burton’s imaginative art, animation, and storytelling.
Over 100 orphans across 5 orphanages including Tzu Chi Alternative Learning Center, Rumah Chrestus Orphanage, and Good Samaritan were invited for an exclusive and immersive educational experience at The World of Tim Burton Exhibition. The visitors were provided with carefully-curated guided tours, interactive art workshops, and special souvenirs tailored to engage the children’s curiosity and creativity. Knowledgeable guides and educators shared captivating stories behind Burton’s iconic works, encouraging the children to explore the world of art with fresh eyes.
Yuri Aizawa, President of Toybox Projects said, “Our hope is to create a memorable experience for these young souls, sparking their imaginations and encouraging them to explore the world of art and creativity. The World of Tim Burton Pop-Up Museum stands as a celebration of art’s transformative power, and we are privileged to share this journey with these remarkable young minds. In this regard, we are thrilled to announce that we extend this heartfelt invitation to the children from all orphanages, refugee centers, charitable organizations, and learning centers to come and explore The World of Tim Burton in Pavilion Bukit Jalil with us before it officially concludes on 30 July 2023.”
