The Asia-Oceanian Conference of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOCPRM) is set to make its highly anticipated return in August 2025, bringing together global leaders, specialists, researchers, and professionals in the field of rehabilitation medicine. Taking place from 21 to 23 August 2025 at the iconic Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Penang, Malaysia, this prestigious triennial event is expected to attract over 1,000 to 1,200 delegates from more than 20 countries, creating a robust platform for academic exchange, innovation sharing, and professional collaboration. Organised by the Malaysian Association of Rehabilitation Physicians (MARP) under the auspices of the Asia-Oceanian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOSPRM), AOCPRM 2025 is set to be a landmark event in the regional and global rehabilitation calendar.
Carrying the theme “Rehabilitation for a Sustainable Future: Bridging Innovation, Inclusion, and Impact,” AOCPRM 2025 seeks to position rehabilitation at the core of future-ready, equitable, and patient-centered healthcare systems. The conference features a dynamic scientific programme, offering a multidisciplinary approach to advancing the field. Highlights include one keynote lecture by a globally recognised leader in rehabilitation, eight plenary lectures tackling major challenges and emerging trends, and 28 thematic symposia featuring experts in areas such as neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal pain, spinal cord injury, pediatric care, robotics and assistive technology, aging, and health systems. For the first time in the history of the conference, a Mandarin Symposium will be introduced, providing a dedicated platform for Mandarin-speaking delegates and enhancing accessibility and inclusion. Additionally, 10 pre-conference workshops, scheduled for 20 August 2025, will offer hands-on clinical training in musculoskeletal ultrasound, spasticity management, interdisciplinary rehabilitation care, and more.

Beyond the academic programme, AOCPRM 2025 also emphasises holistic wellbeing and cultural enrichment. Delegates will be invited to participate in morning Tai Chi sessions led by a Chinese delegate and Gentle Stretch & Breathing sessions facilitated by a local physiotherapist. These activities, held on the rooftop garden of SPICE Convention Centre, are designed to promote mindfulness, body awareness, and physical balance. A symbolic Tree Planting Ceremony will further demonstrate the conference’s commitment to sustainability and collective responsibility. The experience will culminate in a grand Cultural Gala Dinner at the historic Eastern & Oriental (E\&O) Hotel, where delegates will enjoy authentic Malaysian cuisine, traditional performances, and meaningful networking opportunities in a heritage setting.
To showcase the rich cultural and natural beauty of Penang, delegates will also have the option to join curated sightseeing tours, including visits to George Town’s UNESCO heritage sites, Penang Hill and The Habitat, a relaxing sunset cruise along the island’s coastline, and the seasonal Durian Experience Tour—a chance to sample Malaysia’s iconic fruit in a local orchard.

Held once every three years, AOCPRM is widely regarded as the premier regional platform for the advancement of rehabilitation education, research, and care. As healthcare systems around the world grapple with the increasing demands of aging populations, chronic disease management, and disability care, AOCPRM 2025 aims to drive transformative discussions and foster global collaborations that will shape the future of rehabilitation medicine.
With its seamless integration of scientific excellence, cultural depth, and wellness focus, AOCPRM 2025 in Penang promises to be an enriching and memorable experience for every participant. Rehabilitation professionals, academics, therapists, students, and industry stakeholders are warmly invited to be part of this momentous gathering.
