Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), in collaboration with the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI), has successfully wrapped up DEX CONNEX Thailand 2025 with a major milestone. The signing of 10 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Malaysian technology companies and Thai partners. These strategic collaborations are expected to generate over RM200 million in potential digital export opportunities, boosting Malaysia’s footprint in the ASEAN tech landscape.

The programme, held alongside the prestigious Techsauce Global Summit 2025, underscored MDEC’s commitment to advancing cross-border digital partnerships. It brought together 52 Malaysian tech companies to explore new international markets, foster innovation-driven ventures, and strengthen Malaysia-Thailand digital ties.

A key moment during the event was the renewal of MDEC’s MoU with Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), first signed in 2023 and witnessed by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This renewed agreement cements both countries’ shared vision of accelerating digital economy growth through joint projects, market access initiatives, and knowledge sharing.

“MDEC’s renewed partnership with depa Thailand is a testament to the strong synergy between our nations in shaping a digitally connected and future-ready ASEAN,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC. “DEX CONNEX is more than just an access programme, it is a catalyst for strategic collaborations that drive exports, attract investments, and build resilience for our tech ecosystem.”

The MoUs signed cover diverse areas, including joint ventures, technology transfers, and co-innovation projects. These initiatives are set to unlock new business opportunities, spur innovation, and strengthen market access for companies on both sides of the border.

The success of DEX CONNEX Thailand 2025 was made possible through the support of strategic partners, including the Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand, MATRADE Thailand, MITI, MRANTI, depa Thailand, True Digital Park, Techsauce, the Malaysia-Thai Chamber of Commerce (MTCC), GEN Thailand, and the Diplomatic Council. This robust network provides Malaysian companies with valuable resources and platforms to expand into the Thai market and beyond.

Looking ahead, MDEC is gearing up for the Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025 (SCEKL 2025) in September, themed “AI Cities: Shaping Our Digital Future”. The event will showcase Malaysia’s leadership in smart and sustainable digital solutions aimed at creating more inclusive, connected, and future-ready cities.

With programmes like DEX CONNEX, MDEC continues to position Malaysia as a leading hub for digital innovation and cross-border economic growth in ASEAN.
