At its annual Elevate 2025 user conference, Mimecast, a global leader in cybersecurity, unveiled a series of groundbreaking AI-powered innovations designed to help organizations combat the next generation of cyber threats — particularly those amplified by artificial intelligence itself. Central to these announcements is the introduction of Mimecast Mihra AI (Mimecast Intelligent Human Risk Agent), a cutting-edge capability within the company’s Human Risk Command Center, which has already shown to improve threat response times by up to seven times. The new features reflect Mimecast’s commitment to reshaping how businesses protect the “human layer” — the people who remain both the greatest strength and the most vulnerable target in cybersecurity.
Mimecast’s 2025 Global Threat Intelligence Report revealed a sharp rise in AI-driven attacks, with phishing now accounting for 77% of all cyberattacks, up from 60% in 2024. The report underscores how attackers are leveraging AI to mimic authentic communication styles, making it harder for traditional systems to detect threats. In response, Mimecast’s latest platform evolution delivers “protection by AI, from AI, and for AI” — a holistic approach to measuring, empowering, and defending against human risk.
Building on the success of its Human Risk Command Center, Mimecast’s new platform capabilities focus on smarter automation, deeper insights, and faster incident response. The company’s Chief Product & Technology Officer, Ranjan Singh, explained the vision: “Security teams are drowning in alerts while employees unknowingly create new vulnerabilities through shadow AI. Our Mimecast AI agents turn hours of investigation into minutes while blocking employees from pasting confidential data into unauthorized AI tools. We’re the only platform addressing both sides of the AI risk equation.”
The enhanced platform introduces three core areas of innovation:
- Protection by AI – Mimecast AI processes over 18 billion security events per day across more than 42,000 customers, enabling predictive threat prevention tailored to each organization’s behavior. The Mihra AI agent assists with investigations, compliance, and reporting, delivering actionable insights in seconds.
- Protection from AI – Designed to counter AI-generated phishing and social engineering attacks that mimic internal communications, the platform detects and blocks these highly sophisticated threats across email and collaboration tools.
- Protection for AI – As generative AI adoption grows, Mimecast provides visibility into how employees use tools like ChatGPT or other AI platforms. Its real-time monitoring helps identify “shadow AI” use — when staff rely on unauthorized AI systems — and prevents sensitive data leaks.
What sets Mimecast apart is its unified platform that integrates email, collaboration, and generative AI monitoring within a single console. Security and compliance teams can now conduct unified searches across Microsoft 365, Slack, and Google Workspace, while automated “behavioral nudges” encourage safer employee actions in real time. Additional tools like risk scorecards, DMARC authentication, and adaptive security controls allow organizations to personalize protection for each user based on their individual risk level.
This integrated, AI-native approach gives businesses not just defense but also resilience — enabling them to adapt to the fast-changing threat landscape with confidence. “By combining visibility, automation, and intelligence, we’re empowering organizations to stay ahead of threats while managing human risk more effectively,” Singh added.
As the line between human error and AI-driven threats continues to blur, Mimecast’s latest advancements position it at the forefront of a new era in cybersecurity — one where protection evolves as fast as the threats themselves. The newly announced capabilities will roll out to customers throughout Q4 2025, marking another milestone in Mimecast’s mission to make the digital world safer, smarter, and more resilient.
