This Raya season, the three malls run by the Suria KLCC Group will ferry customers to the fishing villages along the East Coast’s coastline. The first and second days of Hari Raya will fall on April 22 and 23, 2023, hence Suria KLCC will conduct its Hari Raya programme from March 24 through May 1, 2023.

This year’s decorations may bring back memories for some, while for others, an appreciation of  the simple pleasures found in a traditional kampung nelayan (fishing village).

The Centre Court is the hub of the festivities, featuring a traditional wooden rumah kampung (village house) that immerses visitors in the vibrant atmosphere of a Malaysian village. Elevated  on stilts with expansive windows, the village houses are set amidst a picturesque landscape  dotted with coconut trees.

An interactive wayang kulit gives shoppers a hands-on experience of moving and controlling the  shadow puppets. Visitors get to know what it’s like to be behind the scenes of the Malay traditional  art of storytelling. Apart from that, visitors can have a go at nostalgic childhood games such as  teng teng (hopscotch), gasing (spinning top) and congkak at the Centre Court.

Festive songs wafting through the air serve to enhance shoppers’ Hari Raya celebratory mood.  Those who are light on their feet can dance along to cultural dances that will be performed at the  Centre Court and Ramlee Mall, throughout the Raya campaign period.

A photo booth is also available for shoppers to take festive photos with loved ones. The  complimentary photo print-outs with e-copies let shoppers commemorate their wonderful  experience shopping at Suria KLCC.

At Esplanade KLCC, the 50-ft Pelita Replica that made it into the Malaysia Book of Records in  2022 as the Largest Pelita Replica will make a comeback this year to be showcased along with  other traditional Hari Raya elements.

“Being a prominent mall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, this is our way of bringing Malay culture,  traditions and stories to the diverse people who visit Suria KLCC from around Malaysia and around  the world each year during Ramadhan and Hari Raya.

“As we continue to create festive experiences to delight visitors, we hope this Raya season brings  new-found appreciation for Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage,” said Andrew Brien, Executive  Director and CEO of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd.

The excellent shopping experience at Suria KLCC is made even better with its rewards and  savings this Raya season. From 30 March until 24 April, shoppers who spend RM1,000 in two receipts at any specialty stores will receive RM100 worth of Suria KLCC Shopping e-Vouchers  (SKLCC e-Vouchers) and a set of exclusive Suria KLCC Raya Packets.

That’s not all! To add to the excitement, the first 100 shoppers who purchase RM1,000 worth of  SKLCC e-Vouchers during this festive season campaign will receive an additional RM100 worth of  e-Vouchers.

Throughout Ramadan, the Concierge Team will hand out ‘kurma’ (dates) in preparation for  shoppers to break their fast.

In an ongoing initiative of the Mental Health Awareness programme, Suria KLCC has pledged to  support NGO(s) championing mental health through monetary sales of the Suria Ribbon Pin. The  ribbon pin can be purchased from the Concierge at RM10 per pin.

    ALAMANDA PUTRAJAYA

From 31 March to 21 April 2023, Alamanda Shopping Centre will be hosting their Hari Raya  campaign, which features the charming Coastal Fishing Village theme.

There is a redemption programme for shoppers to receive an exclusive three-tier tiffin carrier, as  well as Alamanda Raya Packets, when they spend RM700 in two receipts at any specialty stores.  These redemptions are limited to one redemption per shopper in a day, while stocks last.

High-spenders who spend RM1,500 and above will receive a RM50 Alamanda Shopping Voucher  on top of the exclusive three-tier tiffin carrier and Alamanda Raya Packets.

Shoppers will also be entertained with a line-up of traditional performances such as the pencak  silat, dikir barat, gamelan dance, caklempong and kompang berirama.

In conjunction with Hari Raya, Alamanda Shopping Centre gives back to the community by inviting  the children of Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim/Miskin Rukaiyah to break fast at a buka puasa session. These children will also get to enjoy festive performance, shop for new Raya attires as  well as receive duit raya.

Not forgetting VIKids, members will be able to take part in a `Biskut Raya’ Decorating Workshop  and a ‘Sampul Hari Raya’ Arts and Craft Workshop.

    MESRA MALL

The Coastal Fishing Village theme also makes an appearance at Kemaman’s Mesra Mall. The  decorations here will feature a small village harbour providing a haven for a fleet of fishing boats.  The nostalgic atmosphere reflects the carefree life in a typical Malay fishing village.

When shoppers spend RM500 in a maximum of three receipts at any specialty stores, they can  redeem a surprise Hari Raya Premium Item, an exclusive Mesra Mall two-tier tiffin carrier and  premium Mesra Mall Raya Packets.

Mesra Mall has plenty in store for VIKids members; among them include a craft competition which  will be held on 7 April at 2.30 pm. Those aged 7 to 9 years can participate in a Greeting Card  Competition, while those from 10 to 12 years old can take part in a Felt Raya Packet Competition.  All Raya crafts will be displayed at the mall from 9 to 27 April.

Boys in primary school, on the other hand, get to show off their moves in a Dance Competition on  7 April. This competition is open to groups with a maximum of five pax. Winners also stand to win  attractive hampers from TMC Supermarket.

All competitions for children are exclusive to VIKids members. Those who are not members can  sign up with a RM50 spend prior to taking part in the activity.

There will also be a Shawl Tutorial and Fashion Show presented by Rasa Sayang, FOS, Siti  Khadijah and Kidz on 7 April at 4 pm. This exclusive one-time event is open to all shoppers.

In conjunction with Nuzul Quran, on 8 April, Mesra Mall will give away 500 packets of bubur  lambuk. Sponsored by Mesra Mall’s retail partners, this event will take place from 11 am to 5 pm.

Not forgetting the less fortunate, the mall management together with local authorities and  sponsors will be breaking fast with orphans from Persatuan Kebajikan Al-Islam Huzai Kemaman.  This community engagement programme, called the Jalinan Mesra, will be held on 6 April, from 5  pm to 8.30 pm at the Mesra Hall.
