In its mission to inspire healthier lifestyles nationwide, leading global health and wellness company Herbalife has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), marking the start of a dynamic partnership to strengthen nutrition knowledge and practical experience among students from UTAR’s Faculty of Science.

The MoU signing ceremony, held at UTAR’s main campus in Kampar, Perak, saw Herbalife Malaysia and Singapore Senior Director and General Manager Steven Chin join hands with UTAR Faculty of Science Dean Dr. Lim Tuck Meng to formalise the collaboration. Over the next two years, both parties will work closely on initiatives promoting health, nutrition, and wellness ranging from knowledge-sharing sessions and research collaborations to joint events such as seminars, workshops, and talks. The partnership will also provide students with hands-on industry exposure through internships, mobility programmes, and real-world learning opportunities, while Herbalife distributors will benefit from accredited short courses co-organised with UTAR.

To kick-start the collaboration, the MoU ceremony featured an engaging knowledge-sharing session with Herbalife nutrition experts. Dr. Rimbawan, a member of Herbalife’s Nutrition Advisory Board from Indonesia, delivered a talk on “The Power of Protein in Supporting Long-Term Weight Stability,” highlighting protein’s role in maintaining muscle mass, promoting satiety, and supporting metabolic health. He also addressed the growing challenge of weight management in today’s sedentary, fast-paced lifestyles.

This was followed by a session by Clare Lim, Nutritionist & Product Trainer for Herbalife Malaysia and Singapore, titled “Eat Well Early: Wellness Starts at Breakfast.” She emphasised the importance of a nutritious breakfast, a timely reminder for students who often skip the first meal of the day due to busy schedules.

Speaking at the event, Steven Chin expressed excitement over Herbalife’s first partnership with UTAR, noting its potential to positively impact students nationwide. “As a global nutrition company, we are committed to helping communities live healthier lives. This collaboration will allow us to share expertise, promote healthier habits, and open career pathways in the growing nutrition and wellness industry,” he said.

Dr. Lim welcomed the partnership as a valuable addition to UTAR’s commitment to educational and research excellence. He noted that UTAR’s strong research track record in health and nutrition aligns closely with Herbalife’s science-backed approach, making the collaboration a strategic fit for joint studies, data sharing, and innovation in nutritional science.

The initiative was warmly received by students. Dietetics student Joanna Cheah Hsin Yee, 23, expressed enthusiasm about the internship opportunities the partnership would bring. Meanwhile, 20-year-old accounting student Lim Wei Jun shared that the sessions provided him with practical tips to improve his eating habits and overall health.

Herbalife’s collaboration with UTAR builds on its extensive work with universities and professional organisations in Malaysia over the past five years, which has reached more than 5,000 students, athletes, and aspiring health professionals through partnerships with UiTM, UPM, the Nutrition Society of Malaysia, Institut Sukan Negara, the Malaysian Association of Sports Medicine, and the Malaysian Exercise and Sport Science Association.

With this newly forged alliance, Herbalife and UTAR are set to foster a new generation of health-conscious, well-informed graduates ready to make a positive impact in the field of nutrition and wellness.
