    Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp (aT), a government agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs in South Korea, and KMT Group, the largest Korean food distributor in Malaysia, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase the importation of Korean food and goods.

    Witnessed by Mr. Chung Hwang-keun, Korea’s Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the MoU will see strategic cooperation between the parties to expand the distribution and consumption of Korean agro-food in Malaysia through a series of initiatives such as the mediation of export transactions, information on agro-food exports, discovery of promising products, and more. aT aims to bolster KMT Group’s efforts of providing Malaysians with the largest range of Korean food products.

    Mr. Chung Hwang-Keun said, “It is impressive how KMT Jaya has established itself as Malaysia’s leading Korean distributor with over 3,500 Korean products. We admire Datuk Matthew’s efforts to deliver Malaysians our best offerings and educate them about our culture through various campaigns and promotions.  On behalf of the Korean government, we would like to express our gratitude and we are honored for the trust Malaysia has given for Korean food and culture.”

    As the MoU signing ceremony took place at KMT Jaya’s warehouse – Korjaya Logistics, Mr. Chung Hwang-keun was given an exclusive tour of the location where he observed the standard operating procedures of exporting Korean products and the Malaysian work ethic.

    Founder and Chairman of KMT Group, Datuk Matthew Lee said, “Today’s MoU signing reaffirms our commitment to developing a robust partnership between KMT Group and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. With this new agreement, we aim to highlight Malaysia as a preferred market for foreign countries to penetrate and distribute their products and services.”

    This collaboration entails KPLUS Food Market – Malaysia’s first and largest Korean food market to acquire international-quality market research on new and existing Korean products, development of distribution networks, and growth of potential customer databases, among others. Through this strategic collaboration, KMT Jaya and aT will work together to achieve their collective objectives of increasing exports of Korean agro-food in Malaysia.  Additionally, this initiative is certain to contribute to the growth of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
