    In a thrilling match that captured the essence of competitive football, Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) pulled off a surprising victory over the K-League champions, Ulsan Hyundai FC, in the Group One fixture of the Asian Champions League (ACL) 2023.

    The victory thus turned on the chance to advance to the next round.

     

    In the action, JDT’s substitute player, Akhyar Rashid emerged as the hero when his goal in the 86th minute managed to secure three points belonging to JDT to share six points with Ulsan Hyundai behind Kawasaki Frontale.

     

    JDT, who are hunting for a win to continue the hunt for the next round, started fiercely by testing the visitors’ defense several times.

    Ulsan Hyundai also managed to test the effectiveness of JDT, especially the goalkeeper, Syihan Hazmi, but failed to create a goal

     

    Towards the end of the first period, Heberty De Andrade’s long-range effort was saved by Jo Hyeon Woo to put JDT ahead.

     

    The 69th minute saw the opposing team tie the score to one.

     

    When the game seemed to end in a draw, substitute Akhyar Rashid calmly shot the ball to beat Hyeon Woo for the second time in the 86th minute.
